Saturday 6 July 2013 was our first visit to Yellowwood Forest in Morgan Bay. Pop in at the Farmers Market and Craft Market at Yellowwood Forest if you’re after some arty bargains, home baked goodies, fresh produce, some peace and tranquility, and if you enjoy nature. We went. We were enchanted. We will go again.
Get lost in nature and in the eco-friendly and charming environment of Yellowwood Forest campsite in Morgan Bay.The owners of Yellowwood Forest campsite, gift shop and tea garden in Morgan Bay provide the magical and lush outdoors venue for a craft market and farmers market about once a month or so, on a Saturday morning.
There is usually plenty to do at a craft market or farmers market but at Yellowwood Forest there is a little more than that: Besides looking at and buying all sorts of creative and arty crafts from the craft market stall holders at Yellowwood Forest, and besides buying tasty home baked goodies and fresh produce from the farmers market stall holders, you can browse around in the delightful little gift shop near the entrance to the Yellowwood Forest campsite, or you can relax at one of the outdoor tables in the tea garden, and enjoy tea or coffee, a light meal, something sweet, or some pizza from the wood-fired pizza oven. Or even stay the night. If you enjoy nature, bring your camera and take a stroll through the campsite and the surrounding area, or to the tinkling little stream or river (depending on where you access the Inchara River) on the other side of the campsite.
Also take time to notice how the area around the gift shop and tea garden is decorated. Admire vintage in the outdoors. How pretty is that little path? How cute is that hobbit-like gift shop?Children love the playground, and huge jungle gym – with mom and dad sitting at the tea garden tables close by.
The next Yellowwood Forest craft market and farmers market will be held at the campsite on the 10th of August 2013.
Although there doesn’t have to be a craft market or farmers market for you to enjoy Yellowwood Forest or to enjoy Morgan Bay, if you don’t often drive out that way then visiting Morgan Bay on a Yellowwood Forest craft market or farmers market day would make for a great visit. If visiting Morgan Bay from East London, you will find that Morgan Bay is not that far from East London, so we expect to see you there on the 10th of August 2013. We’ll be one of the craft market stall holders, selling upcycled glass bottle products like tumblers, goblets, wind chimes, photo holders, dinner gongs, and little glass jars, as well as some sea glass jewellery, but whether we’re there or not, you will find that visiting Yellowwood Forest in Morgan Bay is likely to be just your cup of tea, and well worth the not-so-far drive from East London. How to get to Yellowwood Forest campsite, gift shop and tea garden– from East London side:
If you get onto the N2 at Hemingways Mall in East London, the drive to Yellowwood Forest in Morgan Bay should take you about 50 to 75 minutes, depending on how fast or slow you drive.
Take the N2 as if you were heading to Durban
Pass the first Brakfontein turnoff on your left
Pass the second Brakfontein turnoff on your left
Pass the Chintsa turnoff to the right
Pass the Tainton turnoff to the right
Look out for a sign on the left hand side of the N2 that says Haga Haga and Kei Mouth
Just beyond this Haga Haga Kei Mouth sign, turn right
Travelling 44 km on that tar road will take you right into Kei Mouth, but some kilometers before Kei Mouth look out for a large aeroplane on your right next to Ferndale School, and just after that look out for the Morgan Bay sign on your left, and turn right, still on tar, into George Brown Drive.
If you continue right down George Brown Drive to Morgan Bay beach, you’ve gone too far
So, rather, after having turned into George Brown Drive, you can either:
Take the first left into Yellowwood Road (and 2nd left into Incarha Drive, and then drive along Incarha Drive until you come across Yellowwood Forest on your right)
Or , you can take the 4th left into Protea Road, 4th left into Incarha Drive, and then drive along Incarha Drive until you come across Yellowwood Forest on your right (this is the route we took)
All in all, we had a good day – and we think that you will too, when you visit Morgan Bay and Yellowwood Forest.
