While there are certainly disadvantages to working from home, today I want to tell you about the wonderful advantages of working from home:
Many South Africans who already work from home know all too well the disadvantages of working from home, but they stick to their work at home jobs due to the advantages working from home offers them:
Advantages like the following 22 advantages:
Only having to get on with family and not work colleagues too (if one is working from home alone, with no staff or business partners);
No boss to answer to;
Not having to rush to be at work on time in the morning;
Taking a vacation whenever one pleases to;
Save on petrol costs because your work place is right in your own home;
Working in whatever clothing you want to work in;
Knowing the harder you work, the more you can earn;
Taking a lunch break or tea break whenever you like;
Being at home to see to your pre-school children;
Being at home to be there for your older children should they need you in the afternoons;
Being able to do all or much of the housework yourself (save money on hiring somebody else to do the housework);
Being able to start the evening meal earlier in the afternoon or evening;
Not having to ask a boss for time off work to take a child to the doctor or to stay home with a sick child or to go and support your child at a school sporting activity or school event;
Get to go for a coffee with friends who also work from home or who don’t work;
Not have to schedule your shopping or banking or doctor or dentist’s visits into your lunch hours or Saturday mornings;
Decorate your working space exactly as you please to;
Take a nap in the middle of the day if you’re tired or feeling ill;
Watch a dvd in the middle of the day if you want to;
Go to a movie with friends, or take the kids to a movie on a school day afternoon or during their school holidays when you perhaps wouldn’t have otherwise been off from work if working for a boss;
Get to be around your children throughout all their school holidays;
Be able to fit in more or longer exercise sessions;
If you don’t have to take children to school in the morning, work as late into the night as you would like or may need to, and get up in the morning as late as you like.
